All Norwegian banks are members of the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund.
Foreign banks are covered by the deposit guarantee scheme in the bank's home country. As the Norwegian guarantee covers a higher deposit amount, some of the foreign banks have chosen to become member of the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund. These banks are called branch members.
If a bank uses one or more brand names in addition to its original name, it is considered as one bank. The deposit guarantee applies to total deposits in one bank. The bank is required to inform the depositors on their use of brand names.
