In June 2021, the Ministry of Finance decided to liquidate Optin Bank ASA under public administration. Optin Bank had started its banking operations in 2017. The bank was a member of the deposit guarantee scheme, and the decision on liquidation triggered the deposit guarantee. By using the digital payment solution of the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund, customers gained access to their deposits four working days after the decision on liquidation, well within the deadline of seven days. The Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund recovered its outlay following the administrative board's liquidation of the bank.
