Together with the Ministry of Finance, the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet) and the Norwegian Central Bank (Norges Bank), the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund contribute to maintaining financial stability in Norway.

The allocation of responsibilities, cooperation and information sharing between the different agencies is regulated by law and by agreements. Information sharing of financial data, notification of conditions among member banks with significance for financial stability, coordination of visiting and supervisory activities, and cooperation in the testing of data files (payout files) from member banks are some om the areas regulated.

The Norwegian Banks’ Guarantee Fund also cooperates closely with the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority in the management of the Resolution Fund.
